Box Access Authorisation - All You Need to Know About Licensees and Mandatees

A licensee has full access to the safe deposit box along with administrative rights, whereas a mandatee will only have access to the safe deposit box and don’t have administrative rights.

The following administrative rights can be performed only over the counter by a licensee:

  • Registration of the safe deposit box.
  • Addition/deletion of mandatee or licensee.
  • Change of mandatee or licensee.
  • Change of lock due to the loss of 1 key* or both the keys.
  • Relocation of box within the branch*.
  • Change to a Golden Number box*.
  • Downgrading/upgrading box size*.
  • Termination of contract*.

*Does not require the presence of all the licensees.

You are allowed to register up to 4 licensees for each deposit box. You do not have to pay for the registration of the first 2 licensees. But, subsequent addition or amendments of licensees is chargeable at just S$75/change. Similarly, you can add up to 4 mandatees per box. However, each addition or amendment of mandatee is chargeable at S$75. All licensees and mandatees have to be present at the facility with their original identification documents like NRIC, birth certificate, and passport.

How to Register for a Certis CISCO Safe Deposit Box

Visit the nearest facility to open a personal safe deposit box with the following:

To register for a corporate safe deposit box, visit the branch with the documents mentioned below:

Q. What are the eligibility criteria to be a licensee or mandatee?

A. To be a licensee, you must be at least 21 years old or above. The mandatee you want to register must be aged 13 years and above.

Q. If I terminate my deposit box before the renewal date, will I get a refund?

A. No, you will not get any refund if you terminate your safe deposit box before the next renewal date.

Q. Can anyone else other than the licensee and mandatee access the box?

A. No, only a registered licensee and mandatee can access and view the contents of the safe deposit box. This is done for extra security of your box.

Q. After registration, am I allowed to transfer my box from one facility to another?

A. No, you are not allowed to relocate the box.

Q. Can I transfer my licensee status to another person?

A. You cannot transfer your status if you wish to release your deposit box. The new subscriber has to rent a box under a new agreement and you have to close the current account.

Q. Is my deposit box protected from disasters like fire?

A. All safe deposit boxes are resistant to heat and fire. The facilities have fire alarms and sprinklers, which are monitored 24/7.

Q. I want to upgrade the box size. How much do I need to pay?

A. If you want to upgrade the box size, you do not have to pay any fee as all upgrades are free of cost.
