The service is aimed at bridging communication gaps between the bank and customers, and to make information flow more smoothly across the communication channel.
Citibank’s Customer Franchise Head for Asia, Mr. Felimy Greene, mentioned that Citi Bot uses a natural language processing system and enables customers to have intuitive exchanges, much similar to how humans interact.
The system will first go into the testing phase where about 600 Citibank staff and customers will use the service to iron out any snags. The service is expected to be launched a little later in 2017. Citibank also said that Singapore is the first market to receive the chat bot service.
Citi joins DBS and OCBC in the list of banks that currently offer the service. The bank plans to expand the service to other South-East Asian markets and the Asia-Pacific Region.
