UOB understands Singapore, and therefore has a wide variety of credit card offerings. Cash rebates are like discounts on a purchase, but they are credited to your account after a month or three months, depending on the cashback caps and related conditions imposed by the bank. These rebates can be used to offset either credit card bills or can be redeemed at selected merchants. The cash rebate cards offered by UOB are:
Here are some of the advantages of getting UOB cashback credit cards:
You get cash rebates for a large number of spends. The spend categories are widely spread out, such as:
There are also all-rounder cards that give rebates on ALL transactions. This includes the UOB One Card, which gives 5% cash rebate if you spend at least S$2,000 per month, and the UOB UnionPay card, which gives 2% rebate irrespective of what your total monthly spends amount to.
Apart from the regular card-specific rebates, several cash rebate cards of UOB also qualify for the SMART$ rebates. These cards include the UOB JCB Credit Card, the UOB One Credit Card, and the Singtel-UOB Credit Card.
UOB has a constantly updating promotions scheme, under which each card is eligible for a series of shopping, dining, travel and lifestyle transaction discounts. This will help you save money over and above the cash rebates.
UOB charges an interest rate of 25.9% p.a. on its credit cards. This interest charge is applicable only if you do not settle the entire amount of your credit card bill every month. If you pay your entire bill before the due date, you don’t have to pay any interest. But if you fail to make any payments before the due date – not even the minimum payment required every month – then UOB will charge 3% extra interest as penalty. This penal interest will be levied until the overdue amount is paid. Cash advances attract an interest of 28% p.a.
