    UOB understands Singapore, and therefore has a wide variety of credit card offerings. Cash rebates are like discounts on a purchase, but they are credited to your account after a month or three months, depending on the cashback caps and related conditions imposed by the bank. These rebates can be used to offset either credit card bills or can be redeemed at selected merchants. The cash rebate cards offered by UOB are:

    Cash rebates for various spends:

    You get cash rebates for a large number of spends. The spend categories are widely spread out, such as:

    • Dining and entertainment (up to 8% on the UOB Yolo Card)
    • Department stores and grocery (up to 8% on the UOB Delight Card)
    • Singtel bills (up to S$360 rebate with the Singtel-UOB Card)
    • Metro stores (5% Metro$ rebate through the Metro-UOB Card)
    • Japanese outlets (up to 6% on the UOB JCB Card)

    There are also all-rounder cards that give rebates on ALL transactions. This includes the UOB One Card, which gives 5% cash rebate if you spend at least S$2,000 per month, and the UOB UnionPay card, which gives 2% rebate irrespective of what your total monthly spends amount to.

    Interest Rate for UOB Cash Rebate Credit Cards

    UOB charges an interest rate of 25.9% p.a. on its credit cards. This interest charge is applicable only if you do not settle the entire amount of your credit card bill every month. If you pay your entire bill before the due date, you don’t have to pay any interest. But if you fail to make any payments before the due date – not even the minimum payment required every month – then UOB will charge 3% extra interest as penalty. This penal interest will be levied until the overdue amount is paid. Cash advances attract an interest of 28% p.a.

    Eligibility Criteria for UOB Cash Rebate Credit Cards

    If you want to apply for UOB cash rebate cards, you need to meet the criteria given below:

    • Minimum age requirement: You have to be 21 years or older to apply for any of the UOB credit cards. For supplementary cards, you have to be at least 18 years old.
    • Yearly income requirement: Each card will have its own minimum income criteria. The minimum income required for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents is S$30,000, and for foreigners is S$40,000. If you don’t match the income parameter, you can open a fixed deposit account of S$10,000 with UOB instead.

    Documents required for UOB Cash Rebate Credit Cards

    Along with the application form, you need to provide the bank with the following documents:

    • Identity proof: NRIC copy (front and back) for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, and passport and valid employment pass for foreigners residing on the island.
    • Address proof: For foreigners whose local address is different from that in the passport – a copy of utility bills such as telephone, electricity or water, with your current address.
    • Income proof: Latest CPF contribution statement, the Income Tax Notice of Assessment, bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months and computerised salary slips to corroborate your income and employment.

    How to Apply for UOB Cash Rebate Credit Cards

    You can apply for cash rebate credit cards with UOB in these ways:

    • Online: Visit the UOB website and fill in the application form by clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button. You can upload copies of the required proofs and submit the application online.
    • Offline: Go to the nearest UOB branch, fill up the application form and submit the relevant documents.

    How to cancel UOB cash rebate credit cards

    To terminate your UOB credit card, you need to write to the bank stating your interest in cancelling the card. You also should return the primary and supplementary credit cards to the bank after cutting them up in half. Supplementary cards will automatically get cancelled if you terminate the primary card. Before you cancel a card, you need to clear the outstanding bill and redeem the cash rebates available in your card account.
