    UOB, one of the region’s oldest banks, offers a wide range of financial products, including credit cards, in Singapore. All UOB credit cards come with exclusive perks and benefits such as cashbacks, rebates, rewards, miles, discounts, and so on. These cards also come with high credit limits, annual fee waivers, low interest rates, lucrative balance transfer policies, and stress-free bill payment options.

    Features and Benefits

    UOB cashback cards offer cash rebates for a number of spends, which include:

    • Up to 16% cashback on the UOB YOLO Credit Card for dining and entertainment, local and overseas.
    • Up to 8% cash rebate when you shop for groceries at participating department stores using your UOB Delight Card.
    • A cash rebate of up to S$360 on Singtel bills every year, using your Singtel-UOB Card.
    • A 5% rebate on your purchases at Metro when you charge to your Metro-UOB Card.
    • Up to 6% cash rebate on your UOB JCB Card at selected Japanese outlets in Singapore, alongside special perks when using the card in Japan.
    • A cash rebate of up to 3.33% on all spend using your UOB One Card.
    • Fuel benefits of up to 24% at Shell and SPC petrol stations.

    Apart from these, the common features of UOB cashback cards are:

    • All UOB cards allow you to make contactless payments through various services such as Visa payWave, Mastercard PayPass, Android Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or UOB Mighty.
    • Some of these cards can be linked to EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay and used for your train and bus rides.
    • You can make emergency cash withdrawals from all UOB cards.
    • Some credit cards, when linked to the UOB One Account, will help you earn a higher interest rate on the account.

    • YOLO Eat: The UOB YOLO Card offers additional discount on dining, with choices like 1+1 buffets and 10% to 20% rebate on restaurant bills. The validity period for each promotion is different.
    • Rebates on travel and transport: Get discounts and cash rebates on flight and hotel bookings, and other travel-related expenses. For instance, get up to 60% off on hotels bookings via AirAsiaGo, valid till 31 March 2019.

    Interest Rates

    Income every year: If you are a Singapore citizen or a Permanent Resident of Singapore, then your yearly income needs to be S$30,000. If you are a foreigner, then your income needs to meet the S$40,000 criterion. In case your income does not meet the requirements, then you need to open a fixed deposit of S$10,000 with UOB as an alternative.

    Documents Required

    After submitting the application, you will have to provide the following documents for verification:

    • Proof of identity:
      • For Singapore citizen or a Permanent Resident of Singapore: The front and back copy of NRIC.
      • Foreigners: Passport and valid employment pass.
    • Proof of address: If you are a foreigner, then you have to submit your utility bills like phone bill, water bill or electricity bill along with your current address proof.
    • Proof of income: You need to submit your latest CPF contribution document, the Income Tax Notice of Assessment, salary slips, and latest bank statements.

    UOB charges a 25.9% interest rate per year on its credit cards. This charge is applicable only if you fail to pay your credit card bill fully every month. As a penalty, you will be charged an additional 3% interest rate – which will take the total rate to 28.9% p.a. – until your repayment stabilises. The bank will not charge any interest on any transaction for a period of up to 21 days from the day the statement is generated.

    If you take out money from the credit card account, you will be charged an interest of 28% a year, starting from the date of withdrawal. There is no grace period on interest for this service.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To apply for a UOB cashback card, you will have to satisfy the requirements given below:

    • Minimum age: You have to be minimum 21 years old.

    How to Apply for UOB Cashback Cards

    The ways in which you can apply for UOB cashback credit cards are as follows:

    • Offline: Visit your nearest UOB branch, write your details on the application form, and submit all the required documents.
    • Online: Visit the official UOB website and click on the ‘Apply Now’ button for your preferred credit card. Fill up the details on the application form, scan and upload all the necessary documents, and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

    How to Cancel UOB Cashback Cards

    You can cancel your card or terminate the account any time you want by sending advance written notice to the bank. You need to cut the card into two or more pieces for security purposes.

    The bank also has the right to terminate your credit card account under several circumstances, including if you have not made regular repayments, if you give the bank incorrect or misleading information, or if you have any legal or criminal cases against you.
