Online, you can apply directly on the bank’s website, while offline, you need to visit the nearest branch of the bank. If you want to know more and have a bank executive explain the card’s terms and benefits to you, then you can leave your contact number on your chosen credit card’s webpage (under ‘Contact Me’). This will help the executives get in touch with you for processing your request and clarifying your doubts.

    Standard Chartered Credit Card Activation

Standard Chartered credit cards are blocked at the time of dispatch, in order to prevent any theft and unauthorised use of the card. So new cards need to be activated before the first use. Additionally, for security purposes, overseas use of the card also needs activation.

    1. Credit card first-time use activation:
      1. Online on the bank’s website
      2. By logging in to SC Mobile app
      3. Send SMS to 75722 in the following format: ACTName on Cardlast four digits of your card number (e.g. ACT JIM WONG 1234).
    2. Activation for overseas use:
      1. Online on the bank’s website
      2. Through the SC Mobile app
      3. Via SMS to 75722 or +65 9617 6495 (if you’re outside Singapore or using an overseas number) in the following format: AOTName on Cardlast four digits of your card number (e.g. AOT JIM WONG 1234).
      4. If you want to activate the card for overseas use permanently, use the format AOTPName on Cardlast four digits of your card number.

To get SMS and email alerts for all your transactions, you need to register your mobile number and email address with the bank at the time of applying for a credit card. Once the number and email id are registered, you will get SMS and email alerts for all transactions made on the card by you or supplementary cardholders.

    Standard Chartered Credit Card Cancellation

If you have lost your credit card or it has been stolen from you, you need to first report the loss and get your card blocked. You can call 1800 788 3133, 1800 747 7000 or +65 6747 7000 to do that.

You can also decide to cancel your card and terminate the account whenever you want. You can get the cancellation form online, or visit the bank’s nearest branch. The cancellation request has to be sent in writing to the bank. The card should be cut into pieces and returned to Standard Chartered, and whatever dues are pending on the card account should be paid off.
