The SingPass ID is an integrated ID allowing you to carry out digital transactions with over 60 government agencies. Since it requires only one password and login ID, it is important to know how to change or reset your password in case you have forgotten it or wish to change it. In case you have forgotten your SingPass password, it can be reset in two ways.
Offline Reset of Password:
In case you have forgotten your SingPass password or wish to reset it and change it to a new password, you could do it the offline method which would require you to visit your nearest SingPass counter and request for a new password. You would be required to carry certain documents which are required for verification. Once the verification is complete, you can pick up the new password at the counter.
Online Rest of Password:
You can also choose to change or reset your password online by visiting the SingPass website. You will have to find the ‘Change My Password’ option. Clicking on this will generate an OTP that will be sent to your registered mobile number or email ID. On successful authentication of OTP, you can enter your new password. The new password that is generated will be sent via mail to your registered address. The password should be sent within 4 working days of applying for the new password.
- If you have your 2FA or 2-step verification setup, you can have your password reset immediately online without having to wait for the password to be sent in the mail. You will have to visit www.singpass.gov.sg and select 'Menu' and click on 'Reset Password'. It can be found under the 'Services' tab. Once you have entered the required fields of information such as your NRIC or FIN details and the verification through the OTP is complete, you will immediately receive your new password.
- Keep in mind that when you create a new password, the password should have anywhere between 8 and 24 characters and should preferably contain a capital letter, a number, and a special character. The new password cannot be the same as your last 5 passwords and should not contain any variation of the word ‘password’ nor should it be the same as your login ID. It should also not have any details of your NRIC or FIN numbers and should not be easy to guess such as a birthday.
