How to Apply for New SingPass Account

Singapore Personal Access, known popularly as SingPass, is a standard username and password that can be used for all government and related transactions online in Singapore.

To get SingPass ID and password, you need have to be at least 15 years old and need to make government transactions. Singaporeans, permanent residents, Employment Pass, S Pass, EntrePass and Dependent Pass holders, Long-Term Visit Pass holders and other Work Permit holders can apply for SingPass.

Applying for SingPass

The process of applying for a SingPass account is similar for local and overseas users. You can apply for SingPass in two ways: online through the SingPass website and offline at SingPass counters.

  • To register yourself online

    Go to and click on ‘Register Now’. You need to have your National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) or Foreign Identification Number (FIN) to register for SingPass. Overseas users can send an email to [email protected] if they have any doubts regarding the registration.

  • To register yourself offline

    You need to go to the SingPass Counter nearest to you. There are around 45 counters across Singapore. Here, you need to carry the valid documents for verification. The officials at the counter will assist you in filling up the SingPass registration form.

    The registration is a one-time process and cannot be changed or cancelled. So ensure that you’re putting in the right details. Once you register, a SingPass ID and password will be generated and sent to your local address. So ensure that you’re entering the correct address in your registration form.

Documents Required to Apply for SingPass

The following documents need to be uploaded or presented at the SingPass Counter to process your registration:

  • For Singapore Citizens: One of the following identity documents –
    • NRIC
    • Singapore Passport
    • Singapore Driving Licence
  • For Permanent Residents: One of the identity documents given below –
    • NRIC
    • Passport with re-entry permit
    • Singapore Driving Licence
  • For National Service Personnel: One of the identification papers mentioned below –
    • NRIC
    • National Service IDs (11Bs) from SAF, SPF and SCDF
    • Singapore Passport
    • Singapore Driving Licence
  • For pass holders: One of these documents –
    • Long-Term Pass Card
    • Valid Pass from the Ministry of Manpower
    • Passport
  • For others:
    • Valid Pass, Pass Card and/or Passport

Checking the Status of SingPass Account

You can see the status of your application for a SingPass account in the ways mentioned below:

  • Enter your Reference ID given to you at the time of completing your registration on the ‘Check Application Status’ section on the SingPass website. The Reference ID is usually sent in the application confirmation sent to your email id after your apply for SingPass online.
  • Go to a SingPass Counter.
