    You can apply for OCBC travel insurance through the following ways:

    • Apply through OCBC Online banking. Online banking customers can login and purchase the insurance using their savings or current account or their OCBC debit/credit card.
    • You can also visit Great Eastern website and apply for the Explorer insurance.
    • Application for Explorer travel insurance can also be done through the OCBC mobile banking app. Customers can download the app, login and apply for the insurance policy through the app itself.

    How to claim your OCBC Travel Insurance (Explorer)

    The following procedures are applicable to file a claim for your travel insurance with OCBC:

    • You will have to notify OCBC regarding your reason for making the claim. Policyholders can download the claim form from the OCBC website. You can contact also the insurer on their Travel Emergency Hotline number available 24 hours at +65 6339 2155.
    • Once the claim form has been downloaded, you must fill in the required details and submit it along with the supporting documents. Supporting documents could vary from case to case. In case of loss or theft, a police report filed within 24 hours of the incident should be provided. If your property has been damaged by an airline or bus or train, then a property damage report must be obtained.
    • Ensure that you click photos of the damaged property as this would serve as evidence during the time of inspection.
    • If damage or injury has occurred to any third party, you should not agree to negotiate or settle with the third party nor admit any liability without obtaining prior permission from the insurer.

    • The policy can be obtained by a Singaporean citizen or Permanent resident as well as a foreigner. Foreign nationals applying for travel insurance must have a valid employment pass or work permit or student visa or dependent visa or long term social visit visa.
    • Children can be covered under this policy. For a child to enjoy cover they need to be a minimum age of 3 months and must not exceed the age of 18 years. For full time students however, the age limit is 24 years provided they are students of higher learning from a recognised institution.

    1. How long can one wait to apply for Explorer policy prior to departure?

      One can apply for the Explorer Single Trip policy in advance of up to 180 days from the date of their departure.

    2. Is there any additional top-up cover for baggage loss?

      Yes. The policyholder can purchase a top-up cover for baggage loss which provides an additional cover of up to S$1,000 for electronic items such as a laptop or tablet or a netbook.

    3. After purchasing the travel insurance policy, when will the commencement of the cover start and how long is it applicable?

      After the purchase of the policy, the commencement of cover begins when you leave your house or office to embark on your journey from Singapore to your intended destination. The cover can last for up to 30 days after you return if you develop a medical condition or injury whilst travelling overseas

    4. Does the policy cover pre-existing medical conditions?
