BankBazaar Singapore – February 06, 2018
Singapore: According to a press release by the Housing and Development Board (HDB), 4,381 flats will be available for sale by the end of February this year under the Built-To-Order (BTO) and Re-offer of Balance Flats (ROF) exercise. This includes 3,664 BTO units and 717 ROF units spread across various towns and estates.
The BTO flats will be spread across five projects. Mature estates like Geylang and Tampines will have three projects and non-mature towns like Choa Chu Kang and Woodlands will witness two projects. The flats offered to first-timer and second-timer families range from 2-room Flexi to 5-room flats.
Eligible first-timer families will receive a housing grant of up to S$80,000, consisting of the Additional CPF Housing Grant of up to S$40,000 and the Special CPF Housing Grant of the similar amount. HDB also added that the BTO flats will be built with the concept of an open kitchen if the layout permits.
As part of the ROF exercise, HDB will offer 717 unpurchased flats from the May 2017 Sale of Balance Flats and August 2017 Re-offer of Balance Flats. The Housing and Development Board will set aside at least 95% of the flat supply for first-timer families and up to 5% for second-timer families. HDB also added that 80% of the ROF flats are completed and the rest are under-construction.
The elderly may also apply for ROF flats provided they satisfy all the eligibility criteria to buy a standard 2-room Flexi flat.
The applications for these new flats can be made online via HDB InfoWEB till 12 February 2018. Applicants are not allowed to apply for a flat under both the exercises.
