Raffles Health Insurance

Raffles Health Insurance is administered by BUPA. The products leverage the international expertise and infrastructure of BUPA International to understand the requirements of expats and the international community to deliver wide-ranging healthcare policies to Singaporeans.

There are mainly two Raffles health policies for Singapore: ASEAN Plus and Optima Plus. ASEAN Plus healthcare plan is for people who frequently visit the ASEAN region, including Korea, India and China. With Optima Plus insurance policy, you will get the guarantee of a policy that offers protection year after year with the flexibility of picking hospitals of your choice and sustained healthcare financing protection.

Optima Plus


  • If you opt to get admitted to Raffles Hospital, you’ll be eligible to get an incentive of S$100/day.
  • You will get assistance throughout the day with Raffles’ 24-hour call centre.
  • You get full repayment of your valid hospital bill subject to lifetime and annual limits. Separate limits are applied for cancer treatment and kidney dialysis.
  • You will get a discount of 5% on total premiums if three or more of a single family sign up for the insurance policy.
  • You’ll be eligible to get a free health screening voucher which is worth S$100. These vouchers can be redeemed at any Raffles Health Screeners.
  • With Optima Plus, you can tailor your plan according to your budget and needs. You can even pick a co-insurance plan and enjoy a 20% discount on the premium.
  • You can lock your rates in advance with 5-year and 3-year plans and get a further 5% discount on the premium.
  • You will get a personal accident cover worth up to S$25,000 against accidental total and permanent disability and accidental death at no additional cost.
  • You can renew your cover up to age 75, subject to a lifetime limit.
  • You can save up to 8% on the premium if you are admitted to Raffles Hospital or government hospitals.

Other Features

Here is a list of some of the key features of Optima Plus:

  • With this policy, you will not be reimbursed for expenses incurred within a month of the reinstatement of the policy or date of issue unless the treatment is for wounds sustained in an accident taking place after the reinstatement date or commencement of the policy.
  • Premiums owed are not fixed and may be changed at the renewal of the policy.
  • If you choose to live outside Singapore for more than three months, you will have to notify the insurer.
  • There is a free-look period of 14 days for you to review the policy and return it if you do not want to continue.
  • You can renew the policy on the anniversary date by paying the yearly premium at the current rate.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You have to be at least 19 and not older than 60 years.
  • You must be Singapore Permanent Resident, Singapore Citizen or a non-Singaporean with a valid Employment Pass or Work Permit.
  • A dependent child between 1 month and 18 years is also eligible if they are reliant on parents for maintenance and support or if they’re pursuing higher studies, up to the age of 25.

Key Exclusions

There are specific conditions under which reimbursements will not be allocated. The conditions for this policy include the following:

  • Suicides
  • Self-inflicted injuries
  • Acts of terrorism and war
  • Mental illness
  • Pregnancy-related conditions
  • Congenital anomalies
  • Pre-existing conditions


If you travel frequently to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in addition to Korea, India and China, then you can make the most of the ASEAN Plus policy offered by Raffles Health Insurance. It is an all-inclusive medical plan intended to fulfil your healthcare needs when living or working in ASEAN nations. You have the option of choosing from two policies with a yearly limit of S$300,000.


  • You will get a Health Screening Voucher worth S$100 that you can redeem against any Raffles package at Raffles Hospital. This voucher is applicable for insured persons above the age of 7.
  • You can call the hotline number any time of the day if you need any medical assistance or advice.
  • With this plan, you are also eligible for repatriation and medical evacuation.
  • If three or more members of your family sign up, you will get a 5% discount on the premiums.
  • You have the option of choosing the hospital as per your wish within the terrestrial locations of your plan.
  • You are covered up to S$40,000 against Total and Permanent Disability and accidental death at no additional cost.
  • You will get S$200 every day if you opt to get admitted to a Raffles Hospital.
  • You’ll get full reimbursement if you are admitted to an eligible hospital. However, it is subject to lifetime and annual limits. For organ transplant, cancer treatment and kidney dialysis, separate limits will be applied.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for ASEAN Plus, you have to fulfil the following criteria:

  • You have to be between 19 and 60 years.
  • Kids aged between 1 month and 18 years are also eligible if they are reliant on their parents for maintenance and support or if they are studying full-time.
  • Persons who will be insured under this plan must reside in ASEAN countries that include Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, China (excluding Hong Kong), Korea and India.

Key Exclusions

Just like other insurers, Raffles Health Insurance also includes specific conditions as per which you won’t get any benefits. With ASEAN Plus, the exclusions include the following:

  • Congenital anomalies
  • Conditions existing previously
  • Mental illness
  • Pregnancy complications
  • Self-inflicted injuries
  • Suicides
  • Acts of war and terrorism
