Exclusions

There are certain situations where EQ is not liable to provide you cover under your policy. You can go through the terms and conditions of your policy offer to understand these situations better. Some of the exclusions are as follows:

  • Any pre-existing conditions that were there before policy commencement will not be covered by this insurance.
  • Any sickness or accident occurring within 30 days after policy commencement day.
  • Conditions arising out of pregnancy, childbirth, birth control procedures, or birth defects.
  • Any kind of psychological or psychiatric issues will not be covered by this policy.
  • Cases arising out of any dangerous sports or other activities will not be covered.

Do I Qualify to Apply for This Health Insurance?

You have to meet certain conditions in order to purchase this health insurance. The criteria to be met is given below:

  • You can get this policy if you are a Singapore citizen, PR or a foreigner with a valid work pass in Singapore.
  • You should between 18 and 60 years old at the time of policy initiation.
  • For dependent children, the age should be between 15 days and 17 years old. Dependent children can be biological, legally adopted, or legal step children, who are unmarried and unemployed.
  • If the dependent child is studying in an recognised institution, the age limit is extended to 24 years.

How Can I Buy This Health Insurance

In order to purchase this health insurance, you need to download the form from the EQI website. After completing the form, you just need to send it back to the insurance provider.

How do I File a Claim?

You can file a claim under this policy in an easy and hassle free manner. The following are some steps that can help you file the claim:

  • Notify your insurer/broker/agent about the incident at the earliest.
  • Download the Medical Insurance Claim Form from the EQI website, complete the same submit it to the insurer within a period of 30 days the incident date.
  • Along with the form, also submit original medical invoices, bills, and receipts
  • Once you’re done filling the form, you can submit the form on the same website.

Note: There are separate forms for Inpatient and Outpatient claims.

Termination of Policy

  • In case you are not satisfied with the policy, you can cancel the policy anytime.
  • You have to give a written notice to EQI 30 days in advance.
  • If no claims have been made in the time period, you are entitled to a refund is the minimum premium paid is S$80.25 including GST.

Q. Am I covered by this policy if I live outside Singapore?

A. No, this coverage is considered invalid if you are leaving abroad for a period exceeding 90 consecutive days. However, if you inform EQ in the case of overseas posting, you might be covered by making an additional premium payment.

A. You will be covered in this situation to a certain extent. If the nature of your travel is medical, you will be covered according to the charges in a Singapore Restructured Hospital.

Q. Am I covered against SARS and bird flu?

A. You are protected against SARS and bird flu in case of hospitalisation or surgery, only if it does not require you to be quarantined due to an epidemic.
