With the Standard Chartered Bank Platinum Mastercard, you will be eligible for the 360° Rewards Programme that will reward you for your relationship with the bank. This programme starts with your credit card expenditure and also rewards you on your online transactions, deposits, investments, and mortgage. Let’s see how you can earn the points:
These points will be valid for 3 years. If you want to find out how much 360° Rewards Points you have currently, you just have to call the bank’s 24-hour Phone Banking hotline number or refer to your monthly statement.
Suppose you’ve spent S$800 a month on various spends in Singapore. Here’s how your rewards points will accumulate:
|Spend categories||Monthly spend||Points earned|
|Other retail spends||S$50||50|
Once you log in, the points that you can redeem in your account can be seen on the Points Summary section. You can redeem your 360° Rewards Points through ibanklite.standardchartered.com/nfs/orr/foa/view_reward_list.htm.
You will get a coupon for every reward you redeem. As a Standard Chartered cardholder, you can pick from a large number of offers from the bank’s rewards catalogue. These include everything from dining to shopping vouchers, and cash credits to air miles. If you wish to transfer your rewards points to a nominee, a fee of S$10 will be charged for every 100,000 points transferred. To get air miles, you’ll have to pay a conversion fee of S$25 per redemption.
Some of the options available for redemption are:
|Type of Interest||Charge|
|Retail Purchases||25.9% p.a.|
|Cash Advance||28.105% p.a. (0.077% per day)|
|Instalment Payment Plan||0%|
Note: The rates mentioned above are effective from 11 April 2018.
|Type of Charge||Charge|
|Overseas Transaction Fee||1% of the converted amount in Singapore dollars imposed by Mastercard and a fee of 2.5% imposed by the bank|
|Late Payment Fee||S$80|
|Cash Advance Fee||6% on the cash advance, subject to a minimum fee of S$15|
|Supplementary Card Fee||S$0 (for up to 5 cards)|
If you are planning for an overseas trip and intend to use your Standard Chartered card, you will have to activate the magnetic stripe. This is because the magnetic stripe is inactive in Singapore, where we use the EMV Chip technology. Other countries may still be using the stripe, so you would have to make it ready for transactions before going abroad. Since magnetic stripes are not as secure as the EMV chip, it also has to be deactivated once you are back in Singapore.
There are three ways of doing this:
With all Standard Chartered cards, you will have the option of using two types of interest-free instalment payment plans. These are the 0% Instalment Payment Plan (IPP) and EasyPay.
Before applying for this credit card, ensure that you’re qualified to get it. The eligibility criteria for Standard Chartered credit cards can be found on this page.
