    OCBC Credit Card Activation

    Activating your OCBC credit card for use in Singapore or abroad is very easy. OCBC Credit Cards come with a lot of user-friendly features and one of them is convenience of use. To make your card transaction-ready locally, you need to send a short text message to the designated number or apply for it online.

    For overseas use, the card activation method may be a little elaborate but extremely easy. The activation and deactivation processes have been designed to provide greater security to your transactions.

    OCBC Card Activation for Domestic Use

    You can do it in the following ways:

    • SMS banking: Send an SMS to 72323 in the format – space space .
    • Phone banking: If you have registered for the phone banking facility, you can use it to make your card transaction-ready.
    • Online banking: Visit the card activation page on the bank’s website and simply upload a few details. Enter the last eight digits of your card, the expiry month and year as mentioned on the plastic/metal face of card and your NRIC or passport number. All you have to do now is generate a captcha code, read and accept the terms and conditions of card activation policy and click apply.
    • Bank branch: You can activate your card by visiting an OCBC branch near you.
    • Calling hotline: Call 1800 363 3333 to speak directly to an OCBC customer service executive who can help you make your card active.

    To deactivate your card, get in touch with your bank representatives.

    OCBC Card Activation for Overseas Use

    You’re expected to enable the cash withdrawal and magnetic stripe features each time before you undertake foreign travel. Keeping it perpetually activated may expose your card and the linked savings/current account to greater risks of fraud.

    Overseas use of your domestic credit card may attract additional foreign transaction fees and may also involve greater risks. Hence, utmost care is recommended for activation and use.

    To activate cash withdrawal, you can do any of the following:

    • OCBC mobile banking: Login to your mobile app, select the ‘manage overseas card usage’ option, type in the OTP that is sent to your registered mobile number, check the overseas ATM withdrawal box and key in the OTP again.
    • SMS banking: Type space space space space space and send to 72323. For deactivation, follow the same procedure. Just replace ‘activate’ with ‘deactivate’.
    • Mail: You can also activate or deactivate your card via mail. However, this may take up to 7 business days. You can download the relevant form from the bank website, fill it out and send it to the registered bank address.
    • Bank branch: You can visit a bank branch to activate/deactivate your card for overseas usage.
    • Call: Call +65 6363 3333 to activate or deactivate your card.
    • Online banking: Choose the overseas card use option under “customer service”, key in the OTP sent to your registered mobile, check the overseas ATM withdrawal box and key in the OTP again.

    For POS transactions, you need to activate the magnetic stripe feature of your card and deactivate it on your return to Singapore.

    You can follow the same methods as above. If you’re using mobile or online banking, simply click on “Manage Overseas Card Use” under card services. Key in the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Search for your card and check the “Overseas Shop Purchases” box. You’ll have to mandatorily indicate a start and end date. You can choose to make these dates coincide with the dates of your beginning and end of foreign trip. Enter the OTP sent.

    You may also visit to complete the activation or deactivation of your card or visit a branch to complete the process. Don’t forget to carry your passport or NRIC details for verification purposes.

    Fees and Charges

    While there is no charge involved for activation and deactivation of your card for domestic usage, you’ll have to pay S$1 for auto-enrolment of SMS alerts for overseas cash withdrawal with your card.
