    Activating the Card for Overseas Use

    If you are planning to use your credit card overseas, you will have to get it activated first. Your card’s magnetic stripe is deactivated for overseas usage to protect you from unauthorised transactions. Without activation, you will not be able to make cash withdrawals from ATMs or use the card at point-of-sale magnetic stripe terminals. In that case, you will only be able to make purchases at merchants using EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) chip.

    Since some of the foreign countries are still not using the EMV chip, it’s best to get the card activated when you are travelling overseas.

    You can activate your OCBC credit card for overseas use through these channels:

    • Through Online Banking
    • Online on the bank’s website
    • Visit your closest OCBC Bank branch with your NRIC or passport
    • Via phone call to the bank’s Customer Service Executives. You will need your Phone Banking PIN for this method.

    Instalment Payment Plans

    0% Interest Instalment Plan

    With this plan, you can convert your credit card purchases at BEST Denki, and various other participating merchants, into interest-free instalments. It allows you to convert your purchase into instalments of 6, 12, 24, or 36 months. There is, however, a minimum spending requirement which may vary from merchant to merchant. If you are converting your BEST Denki purchase into 0% interest instalments, you must spend at least S$250.

    PayLite

    With PayLite, you can convert any retail purchase that is worth at least S$100 into monthly instalments, with no interest charge. This plan allows you to convert your purchase into instalments of up to 24 months. There is, however, a one-time processing fee applicable to this plan.

    Cash Withdrawn on Credit Card

    You can make cash withdrawals using your Best DENKI Credit Card, subject to the following limits:

    • You can withdraw up to S$1,000 per transaction at an OCBC ATM.
    • You can withdraw up to S$20,000 per day at an OCBC ATM.
    • The limits for withdrawals at overseas ATM may differ.

    Card is Lost/Stolen

    In such a case, you must notify the bank as soon as possible. To report lost/stolen card, you can call the bank on their 24-hour customer service hotline. If your card has been used for making unauthorised transactions, your liability will be limited to just S$100. However, you must prove that you took all possible steps to ensure the safety of your card.

    The minimum amount to pay every month is 3% of the outstanding balance or S$50, whichever is more. If your outstanding balance exceeds the credit limit on your card, however, the minimum amount payable will be 3% of the outstanding balance as well as the amount in excess of the credit limit.

    The interest-free period that you enjoy is 23 days from the statement date. This is only if there is no outstanding balance from previous statements.

    How to Reset the PIN

    Submit the relevant form/Phone banking

    To reset your credit card PIN, you will need to submit the ‘Services for Credit Card’ form to OCBC. Select the ‘Re-issue your Credit Card PIN’ option and mail the form to the bank using the business reply envelope. Your new PIN will be processed within 5 business days. You could also call the phone banking service.

    What Is the Billing Cycle and the Bill Due Date?

    You will receive a bill every month detailing the transactions that have been charged to your card and the amount that is due. The billing cycle may either be every calendar month or may start from the date on which your card was issued. To prevent any late fee charges, the amount on your statement needs to be paid by the due date mentioned on your monthly statement.
