    Features of Metro-UOB Credit Card

    • The first-year annual fee is waived.
    • No annual fee ever for the first supplementary card.
    • If you apply for the card online by 1pm along with the correct documents and information, you will receive the credit card on the same day itself.
    • You can pay for your purchases using contactless Apple Pay method.

    Rewards

    • 1 UNI$ for every S$5 spent on your card.

    • You can also participate in Double Metro$ Day and accumulate rewards at a faster rate.

    You can convert your accrued Metro$ into Metro Shoppers Cheques, which can be used on your next purchase at any of the Metro outlets. The UNI$ are valid for 2 years from the quarter in which they are collected. If you have more than 1 UOB credit card, you can accumulate UNI$s of all the cards in 1 account, which means you can accumulate the reward points at a faster rate. The redemption methods are:

    • Instant Rewards: At merchants that accept UNI$, state the reward points before you pay, and you can get instant discounts on your bill to the value of the UNI$.
    • Online redemption: At the ‘Rewards’ section of UOB’s website, submit your card details and then you can check or redeem your UNI$. These points can be converted into vouchers that can be used at selected stores.
    • Mobile redemption: You can use the UOB Mobile app to convert the UNI$ into vouchers.
    • Call redemption: You can contact the 24-hour UOB Call Centre to redeem your UNI$ into store-use vouchers.

    Instalment Payment Plans

    UOB’s 0% Instalment Payment Plan (IPP) can be used by Metro-UOB Credit Cardholders. Under this scheme, you can convert your purchases from more than 4,000 participating outlets, into interest-free monthly instalments for up to 3 years. For example, if you are buying an appliance costing S$1,600, you can convert it into an IPP of 12 months and pay S$134 every month without any additional interest. If you are unable to pay the instalment amount for each transaction every month, then an interest rate will be charged as per the card’s terms. However, converting your payment into EMIs will deprive you of the reward points, and you will not be able to accrue any UNI$ or Metro$.

    If you are unable to pay the required minimum amount for either the credit card bill or the cash advance instalment, and extra interest of 3% will be levied.

    Transactions In Foreign Currencies And Overseas Use Of The Card:

    An administrative fee of 2.5% will be levied on all transactions in foreign currencies, and 1% of the transaction amount will be charged on overseas transactions made in Singapore dollar using Visa.

    Cash Withdrawals:

    In case of emergency, you can withdraw money from your UOB credit card from any UOB ATM in Singapore, or from UOB/Cirrus/PLUS ATMs outside the island. You could also withdraw the money from any UOB bank branch or transfer it to any of your bank accounts through internet banking.

    How To Apply For Metro-UOB Credit Card

    To apply for Metro-UOB Credit Card, you can either go to the UOB website, select the card, fill in your personal information, contact details and income information, and upload the relevant documents, or go to one of the bank’s branches with the required documents and apply in person.

    Eligibility criteria for Metro-UOB Credit Card

    • Minimum age: 21 years
    • Minimum income:
      • Singapore citizens/Permanent Residents: S$30,000 OR a Fixed Deposit of S$10,000 or more with UOB
      • Foreigners: S$40,000 OR a Fixed Deposit of S$10,000 or more with UOB

    Documents Required:

    • Salaried individuals:
      • Photocopy of NRIC (both sides)
      • Latest computerised payslips for the past 3 months OR
      • Latest 12 months’ CPF Contribution History Statement OR
      • Latest Income Tax Notice of Assessment AND latest computerised payslips for the past 3 months
    • Self-employed individuals:
      • Photocopy of NRIC (both sides)
      • Latest 2 years’ Income Tax Notice of Assessment
    • Foreigners:
      • Employment Pass with at least 6 months’ validity
      • Photocopy of Passport with at least 6 months validity
      • Latest computerised payslips for the past 3 months OR
      • Latest 12 months’ CPF Contribution History Statement OR
      • Latest Income Tax Notice of Assessment AND latest computerised payslips for the past 3 months

    Repayments:

    You have to pay at least 3% of current balance or $50, whichever is higher, every month, If there are any overdue amounts from the past bills, that also has to be paid along with the current bill. You can pay UOB credit card bills through one of the following methods:

    1. At SingPost SAM Machines
    2. At AXS Stations
    3. At iNETS kiosks
    4. At UOB ATMs, with your UOB savings/current account or with accounts in other banks such as DBS, POSB and OCBC
    5. Through recurring InterBank GIRO transfer from any account by filling in the GIRO request form
    6. Via phone-banking, by calling 1800-2222-121 any time of the day
    7. Through internet banking from your UOB account
    8. By cash at cash deposit machines or at bank branches
    9. By cheque, payable to UOB Credit Card and mentioning your credit card number on the back of the cheque leaf. It can be dropped in at cheque deposit machines or mailed to UOB Cards and Payments, Robinson Road, PO Box No. 1688, Singapore 903338.

    Reporting Lost/Stolen Credit Cards:

    If your credit card has been lost, misplaced or stolen, or your PIN has been compromised, the maximum liability on you as a customer is S$100, according to guidelines by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). However, this minimum liability will be considered only if you have told the bank as soon as you find your card missing, and you take all legal steps required to retrieve the card. The bank, upon receiving the information, will block your credit card and prevent further expenses on it. You should also be able to prove that you have in no way been negligent with the card or been party to the fraud. If found guilty, you will have to pay for the fraudulent purchases made using your card. To prevent any misappropriation, ensure that you use your card securely whether you are transacting online or offline.
