This can be paid back in instalments over a period of 3 to 36 months. The interest rate is waived off only if you pay the entire instalment amount before due date. Delayed payments will attract the usual credit card finance charges.

    Cash Withdrawals:

Maybank allows its credit cardholders to withdraw cash from their credit card – a kind of term loan - if they need money urgently. The money can be withdrawn from Maybank’s local or overseas ATMs, from the bank branches, or through transfer of funds from the credit card to any bank account using Maybank’s Dial-A-Transfer service. The amount you can withdraw is linked to your available credit limit. Other credit card-based loan options available with Maybank are CreditAble and FlexiCash. CreditAble is a personal line of credit that allows you to borrow up to 4 times your monthly income at a time. FlexiCash is an instalment loan that gives you loan at an interest rate of just 5.88% per year, and is approved within 3 working days.

    Reporting Lost/Stolen Credit Cards:

The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) has set guidelines on how to deal with stolen or lost credit cards and the customer’s liability in such a situation. These guidelines are:

    • As soon as you discover that your credit card is missing – either stolen or lost or misplaced – inform the bank right away.
    • If the card has been stolen, also inform the police.
    • If your card is used by someone else fraudulently before you are able to report the loss, the maximum liability you have towards the bank is S$100.
    • This minimal liability of S$100 is revoked if it is proved that the card was compromised because of your negligence or you were part of the fraud in some way, or you failed to inform the card issuer about the loss immediately.

It would be best if you take utmost care in physical and virtual handling of your credit card, and follow safe transaction procedures always.
