In order to activate your Maybank eVibes Card for ATM cash withdrawal overseas, you can do any of the options given below:
Foreign currency transactions will be first converted to US dollars and then to Singapore dollars. The card transactions that are in US dollars will be directly converted to Singapore dollars. All the foreign currency transactions will have a conversion rate that is decided by the card association. Apart from the conversion rate, the bank will charge an administrative fee, which is 1.5% of the amount converted. The card association will also charge an additional 1% on the converted Singapore dollar amount. So the total applicable fee is 2.5% of the converted amount.
Suppose you make a transaction in US dollars for an amount US$200. If US$1 = S$1.32340 on the day of conversion, then the amount in SGD will be S$264.68. Foreign currency transaction fee on converted amount will be 2.5% of S$264.68 = S$6.617. So in total, you will be spending S$271.297 for a transaction value of US$200.
You can withdraw cash from any ATM across the world using your Maybank eVibes Card. You will be charged 5% of the amount withdrawn or S$15 (whichever is higher). When you withdraw cash overseas from a non-Maybank ATM, you will be charged S$5 per transaction.
Apart from this, there’s an interest rate of 24% per year, applicable from the date the money is taken out.
