    Activating the Card for Overseas Use

    • Yes, you will have to activate the magnetic stripe of your DBS card for retail transactions overseas.
    • You can do so in the following ways:
      • DBS/POSB ATMs in Singapore
      • digibank
      • iBanking
      • SMS Banking
    • Information/data stored in magnetic stripes can be easily forged or duplicated. Hence, they are usually kept in a deactivated state.
    • These stripes can be activated permanently or temporarily.
    • You’re advised to deactivate your card as soon as you return to Singapore.

    Instalment Payment Plans

    • Convert purchases worth S$500 or more into a 0% instalment payment plan to reduce your cost burden.
    • This plan is offered through participating merchants. Talk to them if you want to opt for this plan.
    • Spread payments over a period of 3, 6, 12, 18 or 24 months.
    • Once the instalment payment plan is set up successfully, the following things will happen:
      • The purchase amount will be charged to your credit card.
      • Check your monthly card statements to see the instalment amount to be paid.
    • No cashback or DBS Rewards Points will be awarded for payments made in relation to this instalment payment plan.
    • Pay an administrative fee of S$150 to prepay or terminate the plan.

    My Preferred Payment Plan (MP3)

    • This plan is similar to the one described above.
    • It is, however, not limited to one big-ticket purchase or only to participating merchants.
    • Up to 10 transactions can be clubbed into a single plan.
    • Use this plan for any purchase above S$500.

    Cash Withdrawn on credit card

    • Withdraw any amount, subject to availability of the credit limit on your card if you need extra cash.
    • Money can be withdrawn through one of the following modes:
    • There is no minimum cash advance withdrawal limit.
    • Up to S$3,000 can be withdrawn from an ATM per day.

    Card Is Lost/Stolen

    • Notify the bank of the incident at the earliest.
    • File a report with the police and submit a copy of the same to the bank, if asked for.
    • Write a letter to the bank confirming and detailing the incident, if asked for.
    • Your liability for unauthorised transactions will be limited to S$100, provided:
      • The bank has accepted the fact that you weren’t complicit in the fraud.
      • The bank has accepted the fact that you were not grossly negligent.
      • The bank is satisfied with your cooperation during its independent investigations.
      • You have pledged to help the bank track down the card or recover its losses.

    What Is the Billing Cycle and the Bill Due Date?

    The minimum payment will be due by the 20th day from your statement generation and full payment will be due by the next statement generation.

    The billing cycle is calculated between two successive credit card statements. The statement is sent to you each month, starting from the very date you received approval for the card. The billing cycle is determined based on the number of working days in a month. It is possible to change the date for billing cycle directly from the bank’s webpage.

    How to Get a Replacement Card

    Through Card and PIN/iBanking

    • By using card and PIN: You will need the identity number, last 4 digits of any card belonging to the same account, and the PIN. You will also need to state the purpose of replacement, prior to submitting.
    • Through iBanking: Choose the credit card you want to be replaced, and state the purpose for the replacement.

    You will receive the replacement card within 3-5 business days.

    How to Temporarily Increase the Limit of the Card?

    You can increase the limit of your credit card temporarily using iBanking. You can increase up to a maximum sum of S$4,000, and for a maximum period of up to 30 days. Your request for increase of limit will only be approved for the following reasons:

    • Hospitalisation
    • Travel
    • Wedding
    • Funeral

    The bank will send you a confirmation letter based on your request.
