    Citi has several cash back cards, and the Citibank SMRT Credit Card is an ideal card for moderate spenders.

    You get up to 7.3% savings at FairPrice Xtra Kallang Wave, up to 5% savings on grocery purchases from FairPrice, Giant and Sheng Siong.     How to redeem rewards on Citibank SMRT Credit Card:

    You can redeem your SMRT$ for SMRT rides and vouchers through online banking or redeem for cash rebate instantly through SMS.

    Charges and details:

    A minimum monthly spend of S$300 is required to earn maximum SMRT$ of 5% on groceries, dining and café spends, movies, toys and books, health beauty, other essential purchases and up to 5% on recurring bills, and 3% on online shopping.

    The beauty of this card is that if your monthly spend goes below S$300, you don’t lose a bulk of the SMRT$ rebates. The rebates will be lower by just 0.3% if you don’t meet the minimum spending requirement. However, you will earn extra 0.3% SMRT$ on non-categorised transactions only if you spend more than S$300 per month.

    Citibank SMRT Card Instalment Payment Plans

    You can use the Equal Payment Plan or EPP to convert large purchases into this interest-free instalment payment plan. Tenures of up to 24 months are available at more than 1,000 participating merchant outlets. However, note that purchases converted to this plan are not eligible to earn SMRT$.

    Citibank SMRT Card Foreign Currencies Transactions fees

    Card transactions (including online and overseas transactions) effected in US dollars will be converted into Singapore dollars. Card transactions effected in foreign currencies other than US dollars will be converted to US dollars before being converted into Singapore dollars. The conversion will take place on the date on which the transaction is received and recorded by the bank. The currency conversion will be based on the prevailing foreign exchange rate or an exchange rate determined by Visa.

    An administrative charge of up to 2.8% of the transacted amount will be levied by Visa on the final amount converted to SGD. In the case of Dynamic Currency Conversions, an extra charge of 1% will be levied on the transacted amount, charged by Visa.

    Cash in Advance/withdrawal Charges

    All cash withdrawals performed with the SMRT Credit Card will attract a cash advance fee amounting to 6% of the amount withdrawn, with the minimum charge being S$15. Cash withdrawals will also attract interest charges at 26.9% p.a., levied on a daily basis at a compounding rate until the amount is repaid in full.

    Citibank SMRT Card Interest rates

    The annual rate of interest on retail transactions is 26% p.a. for the Citibank SMRT Credit Card. This interest is calculated at a compounding rate on an everyday basis. If you delay your payments too often or fail to make payments, you will have to pay an extra 3% p.a. (totalling to 29% p.a.) as interest. The normal interest rate of 26% p.a. will be reinstated only once you start making regular payments. The bank may also offer a low interest rate of 20% p.a. on retail transactions and 20.9% p.a. on cash advances if you have a great repayment history and impeccable credit behaviour.

    Citibank SMRT Card Bill Repayments

    The minimum monthly repayment on this credit card is 1% of your current balance + 1% of your outstanding unbilled instalments (if applicable) + interest charges (includes service charges on instalment payments/recurring bills, etc.) + late payment fee (if applicable) OR S$50, depending on whichever of the two is greater + the overdue amount (if applicable).

    In the event that the current balance is lower than S$50, the minimum payment will be the current outstanding balance.

    How the EZ-link facility works on your Citibank SMRT Card

    The default EZ-Reload amount for the EZ-link facility is S$30. If the EZ-link facility on your Citibank SMRT Card has an insufficient stored valued, S$30 from your credit card will be debited as the “EZ-Reload” amount and credited to the EZ-Link facility on your card. Every time your SMRT Card is charged with an EZ-Reload amount, you will earn 2% rebate.

    How to activate the EZ-link facility on your Citibank SMRT Card

    A notification will be sent to you which will contain an activation code/collection slip number. You will have to take your Citi SMRT Card and this activation code to a TransitLink Ticket Office or a General Ticketing Machine where an external card reader has been installed. The application is based on your latest EZ-Reload amount. You can contact EZ-Link to enquire the status of your application or your activation code, online or through phone.

    How to change the default EZ-Reload amount on your Citibank SMRT Card

    If the EZ-Reload facility on your Citibank SMRT Card has been activated, please follow the steps below to change the default amount of S$30:

    • Visit any TransitLink Ticket Office and terminate your EZ-Reload default facility.
    • You will be issued with a new activation code/collection slip number after 7 days.
    • Visit the EZ-Link website, provide your login details and apply for the EZ-Reload facility with an amount of your choice.

    If the EZ-Reload facility on your Citibank SMRT Card has not been activated, here are the steps to activate and change the default amount of S$30:

    • Call EZ-Link and terminate your S$30 default amount.
    • You will be issued with a new activation code/collection slip number after 7 days.

    Card protection schemes

    Both online and offline transactions made using your card are safe and secure, requiring your authentication in order to go through. Online transactions will require you to enter your card details, along with a secure PIN/Password known only to you. Offline transactions will also require you to enter your PIN at the merchant terminal in order for the transactions to go through. The card’s security framework also disallows cloning of the card or duplication of any sort.

    Citi offers you with three options in order to protect your card:

    • Alerts: Every time a transaction is made on a card, you will receive an SMS alert stating the details of the transaction.

    • You inform Citi regarding the incident immediately.
    • In case the card has been stolen, you register a police complaint.
    • You are able to convince the bank that the loss/theft/disclosure was not due to your negligence.
