|Cashback on fuel purchases & taxi rides||10%|
|Cash rebate on all retail spends||0.2%|
If you’re someone who loves to travel, you’re most likely going to fall in love with this card simply because you get a cashback of 10% every time you book flights and hotel rooms using it. So the next time you’re planning a trip whether for business or pleasure, charging your travel expenses to this card can reward you.
You also get a 10% cashback when you pay for beauty, health, and wellness transactions. Ever seen a card that rewards you for trying to stay healthy? This one does! Go on, get your favourite beauty products, health services, or sign up for the wellness programme you’ve always wanted to, and get 10% of your money back.
If you drive your own car in Singapore, you can now save on your monthly fuel spends. Every time you buy petrol, simply charge the expenses to this credit card and get a cashback of 10%. The same applies to taxi rides as well. Charge your cab ride fares to the card and get 10% cashback.
When you use this card to pay for any other retail transaction not already covered in the above categories, you get a 0.2% cashback. These are unlimited rewards with no cap on how much you can earn and no minimum spend requirement. You earn as you keep spending on the card.
Another feature of the card is that it does not charge you the administrative fee of 2% that normally applies to overseas transactions. This makes foreign currency purchases both overseas and online that much cheaper. However, you do need to keep in mind that this waiver is available only till the end of 2018. Starting 1 January 2019, the 2% administrative fee will apply on every foreign currency transaction you make.
Is something stopping you from buying what you need online? Are you worried about getting scammed? With the e-commerce purchase protection facility, you can shop with peace of mind, knowing that your purchases are fully protected and insured. If you find it difficult to pay for certain large expenses in one go, you should consider using the instalment payment option available on this card. The CIMB 0% i.Pay Plan is an instalment payment plan that allows you to convert your large purchases into smaller instalments that you can pay over periods of up to 20 months. Paying for expensive flight tickets or hotel bookings just became that much easier.
You earn cashback on this card in the following ways:
To earn cashback at the enhanced rate, you need to spend at least S$600 every month on the card. However, there is no minimum spend criterion for each purchase nor is there a minimum number of transactions required per month. You can earn a maximum cashback of S$50 per category per month. However, the total cashback you can earn every month on a primary card is S$100.
If you S$200 on hotel bookings for a particular month, you’ll earn a cash rebate of S$20 at a rate of 10%. Similarly, if your cumulative spend across all other categories stands at S$2000, you’ll earn a cash rebate of S$4 at a base rate of 0.2%.
The following table illustrates the cash rebate you’ll earn across different categories in such a scenario:
|Spend categories for cash rebate||Monthly spend||Cashback rate||Cashback amount|
|Health & beauty expenses||S$100||10%||S$10|
|All other retail spends||S$1,400||0.2%||S$2.80|
|Total||S$2,350||Cashback earned is S$87.80*|
*In the above table, we see that the cashback accruing on your hotel and flight booking spends are S$20 and S$40 respectively. However, both these spends come under the “travel” category, making the total accrued cashback in this category S$60. But since you can earn only a maximum cashback of S$50 in each category, you will get only S$50 cashback for your travel spends instead of S$60. This brings your total cashback for the month to S$87.80 (S$50 + S$10 + S$5 + S$20 + S$2.80).
