    BOC F1rst Card for Students

    The BOC F1RST Card is a student card that gives you rewards when you use it to pay for purchases. You get a cash rebate of 0.5% for every dollar you charge to it. However, since the maximum spending limit on it is S$500 every month, you can accumulate cash rebates totalling only S$2.50 for each billing cycle. The amounts you get as rebate is usually calculated based on the monthly expenses you charge to your card and are rounded off to two decimal places. For calculating how much rebate you are entitled to, both local and foreign retail purchases will be taken into account along with any bills that are paid via it.

    Earning Cash Rebates

    You will earn a cash rebate of 0.5% on your monthly statement amount. You can earn this rebate only up to spends of S$500 per month. This means that the rebates are capped at S$2.50 in a month, i.e. S$30 a year. The amount of rebate will be computed based on your entire spending within the billing period, rounded off to the nearest dollar and to two decimal places.

    Let Us Illustrate:

    • Suppose you spend S$350 in a month using the BOC F1rst Card. Your cash rebate at the end of the month would be S$1.75.
    • Even if your transactions exceed S$500 in a month, you will earn only S$2.50 each month.

    Redeeming your Earned Cash Rebate

    The cash rebates you earn will be used to offset your monthly bill.

    Activating the Card for Overseas Expenses

    Yes, you have to activate your BOC card if you want to use it overseas. The bank has added extra security to protect its customers against fake transactions performed by unauthorised parties. However, you can still use your card for making purchases online at overseas websites.

    To make the card ready for overseas transactions, call the bank’s 24x7 hotline number. Once you’re back in Singapore, you also need to deactivate the card.

    Instalment Payment Plans Available

    • Convert your large transactions into instalments of 6, 12, 24 and 36 months at no additional cost.
    • The minimum amount for purchasing goods and services from the chosen merchant is S$500.
    • You will not earn any rewards points or rebates for payments made as part of the instalment plan.
    • If you terminate your instalment plan early or if you prepay, a redemption fee of S$150 will be charged.
    • You are not allowed to vary the instalment amount or the tenure of the instalment plan.
    • The payments must be made using BOC cards issued in Singapore.

    Lost/Stolen Cards

    You are expected to be cautious with your card’s usage, and ensure the safety of your card and PIN. In case you lose your card or if it is stolen, you must instantly report it to the bank. To do that, call the bank’s Customer Service Hotline number, or inform the bank in writing.

    You must also file a police complaint together with a written confirmation of the theft, loss or misuse of the card or disclosure of the PIN. You must also provide any other relevant information that may be useful to the bank.

    The liability of the cardholder for any unauthorised use of the card will not be more than S$100 if the cardholder was not responsible for the loss or theft, has not acted deceitfully or has not failed to inform the bank about the loss on time.

    To enable auto debit and standing instructions on your card, complete this one-time task:

    • Add the billing organisation you wish to pay to through online banking.
    • Mention the Bill Reference number as provided to you by the billing organisation.

    You can disable these instructions by simply logging into your online banking account.
