    • Citibank uses voice biometrics and m-wallets in Singapore

Five different banks in Singapore have already announced about their debit and credit card compatibility with the Apple Pay technology. However, Citibank Singapore has decide to swim against the tide. The bank was not yet announced anything about its Apple Pay supported cards. It is focussed more on the m-wallet technology on the Android platform now.

At present, Citibank is running beta tests with Samsung Pay on eligible smartphones. The digital wallet from Samsung will be live in Singapore sometime later this year. According to Peng Chun-Hsien, the head of emerging payments and merchant acquiring for Citibank Singapore, the versatility of Samsung Pay will ensure that the transactions are made at more retail points when compared to Apple Pay. Samsung Pay transactions can take place at both NFC and swipe terminals. Magnetic Secure Transmission or MST makes the transactions secure on Samsung Pay.

Identification through voice is also a key feature on which Citibank is focussing. They hope that this will improve the user experience for its phone banking customers.
